Card of The Day
August 21st 2006 15:33
Every now and then, I'd ask my Celtic Tarot cards for a "Card of the Day." That's my alternative for a full 11-card Celtic reading whenever I'm too tired or too (cosmically) disoriented for a much more comprehensive card spread.
Today, I ask for a Card of the Day and the Five of Wands showed up.
Five of Wands shows five men engaged in fighting, with wands as their weapons. They wear the same clothes, appear to be of the same height and build, and all seemingly young.
The first question now is How Do I Stand Out?
Amid competitions, political/professional battles and whatnot, you'll surely find yourself asking, "How do I get on top of the situation?"
True enough, I'm under a difficult phase of "battle" now.
Next, I should ask myself: Should I keep on fighting or do I now find ways to flee? Or should I now surrender?
I guess the more important question is, How do I overcome myself (my fear and my self-doubt) to protect myself from those being pitted against me?

Many of us spend our whole lives running from feeling with the mistaken belief that you can not bear the pain. But you have already borne the pain. What you have not done is feel all you are beyond that pain.

Imagine a construction crew being dropped off at a new construction site where ground hasn't even been broken. However, there's no foreman on the job, no architect's plans, no "direction" for the workers. Now, imagine that these workers aren't speaking the same language. They know they have to build "something", but what? Someone has to bridge the communication gap and lay out some guidelines for the project so everyone can invest their best talents and skills for the sake of bettering the whole.
Teamwork and communication is what five of wands represents to me - and when I see that card come up in a reading, it means those elements aren't present where they should be.
I never saw the five of wands as a battle simply for the fact that it's wands (governed by air, mercury, representing thought, intillect, new ideas, new insights, and new beginnings). If it were a battle, I'd think swords would be the representative suit.
Once again, not debating the validity or accuracy of your own understanding - each person relates to the tarot differently. It's been said there is no right or wrong way to read Tarot, provided the intent is pure. But for me, 5 of wands means to step back, take a look at the big picture, figure out how to communicate clearly and encourage the team to work together toward a common goal.
Just thought I'd share my experiences. Hope you don't mind. *smiles*
